9/11-2011 More Braille machines to school in Tucuman
The school Escuela Luis Braille in Tucuman, Argentina will receive 80 000 SEK to buy Braille machines and pottery kilns.
This is a school for blind children with at present about 80 students who receive special education. Tolvskillingshjälpen has in the recent years supported this school to help improve the classrooms, musical instruments and the purchase of Braille machines.
The children are taught to read and write using the Braille system. Today the school has 14 Braille machines. Other school activities involve dance, rhythm and music. The students also work a lot with their hands. They have started working with clay and ceramics, which has turned out very well and therefore the grant will also be used to purchase pottery kilns.
13/9-2011 Support to the famine catastrophe in Africa
Tolvskillingshjälpen will support SOS Children's Villages who are active in several parts of Africa but the contibution will be dedicated to SOS Children's Village in Mogadishu, Somalia. TSH will provide a grant of 100 000 SEK.
We will also support the organization Svalorna who work with children and young people in Nicaragua with 60 000 SEK that will be distributed over 3 years.
7/6 2011 Support for Mobile Unit in the Philippines
Tolvskillingshjälpen has several years supported a fruit project in the Philippines that is run by the Society Bahay Tuluyan Sweden. The support is now expanded to also include the project Mobile Unit that helps street children with education and by giving the the children chance to protect themselves against diseases violence and exploitation.
TSH will also support a water ring project in Delhi's poor suburbs, India. It is the organisation DCCW (Delhi Council for Child Welfare) who will install new water treatment systems at 17 of its orphanages and hospitals for children.
7/4-2011 Continued support in Moldova
Labour migration remains a major problem in Moldova. Many children live without their parents because sometimes both the mother and father are working abroad. The women often work in Western Europe with household or childcare, and men as construction workers in Russia. Of course this affect children's school work and welfare.
Tolvskillingshjälpen supports together with Save the Children, a project that aims to reduce harm by enhancing the children their parents and also the teachers who work with children. Examples of activities are: training for teachers, the generation of information, radio campaigns. Tolvsskillingshjälpen will continue to support this project for three years.
3/8-2011 Focus South America
Continued contributions to the orphanage Casa Cuna in Tucuman, Argentina which Tolvskillingshjälpen has supported for a long time with money for facilities, school supplies and kitchen equipment. TSH also gives contributions to the school Escuela Luis Braille for blind children in Tucuman and dental care project Leende utan karies (Smiling without caries) in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
19/8-2010 Tolvskillingshjälpen is helping the children in Pakistan
A contribution of 50 000 SEK will be dedicated children in Pakistan. Details of where and how is not yet decided but Tolvskillingshjälpen will seek a project that is rebuilding schools or in other ways is helping the children in Pakistan. In addition to this it will preserved to provide grants to:
* Two educational projects in Guatemala.
* A school in Sri Lanka.
* Dental care for poor children in Brazil.
* Trip for voluntary work in Colombia.
* Scout camp in Moldova.
